June 16, 2018 – Day 228 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Hot Summer Day – Today my sister and I went to the W.C. Handy Blues and BBQ Festival in Henderson, Ky and although I shot a lot of pictures of the performers but, I still keep coming back to this photograph I shot of kids enjoying the spray park along the Ohio River. The music was great, but this picture wins the prize for my daily challenge.
June 15, 2018 – Day 227 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Cat Ears – Today Elaina’s mamaw bought her a set of cat ears while they were at the store and when I asked her if I could take a picture of her new ears she said yes, with Tabatha! Sometimes when you want a photo of a little one in your life, it’s easier to ask them to take a picture of something they’re doing, wearing or have! Especially when they’re not in the mood for having their picture taken, you must be tricky! LOL
June 14, 2018 – Day 226 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Princess – I had to work to get this photograph today! My niece Elaina was in a goof off crazy mood and wanted to do the silly face thing, or not look at the camera at all. I wanted a more serious portrait however and with persistence I was able to capture this moment. If you know what you want in your mind’s eye, be persistent and you’ll capture it!
June 13, 2018 – Day 226 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Shadow Climber – We made a stop by the riverfront park in Owensboro, Ky today so Damion and Elaina so get in a little play time after we picked up some stuff and had lunch. Damion was starting his climb up this ladder set to where I was, and I loved the design of him and his shadow, coupled with the background of the play area! Shapes, designs and shadows can make for interesting photos! Keep an eye out for how you can incorporate them into your pictures!
June 12, 2018 – Day 225 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Wolfie – Damion works at getting “Wolfie” settled into his high chair today at lunch with fellow members of the West Kentucky Photography Club.
June 11, 2018 – Day 224 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – My Seat – Usually when I get up from my home office chair (two more in the room by the way) my niece Elaina makes a bee-line to it while I’m gone. It’s developed into a nice moment where she loves for me to complain and whine about how shes stole my chair again! That and a little bit of tickling after awhile will get her out of it! Photograph those special moments between you and the young ones in your life, we all have them!
June 10, 2018 – Day 223 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Birdhouse Library – I’m so glad that all our kids enjoy books! Today after church we stopped by the church’s Birdhouse Library, where grandma Jeanne explained to the five of them how it works, before they each picked a book to take home!
June 9, 2018 – Day 222 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Sunset Rails – I’ve passed this spot for several years just of Indiana 64 and never realized it was there till a friend posted a train picture from here. This was yesterday during a railfan trip and even though I didn’t catch a train while we were here this trip, it’s only a matter of time! Besides, who says you always need a train??

June 5, 2018 – Day 218 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Water Fountain Art – Went to see the new Star Wars movie today and afterwards I found this image of the water fountain in the hallway as I was waiting on my sister. I’ve passed it countless times, but today I looked at it as a square photo and black and white! I think it works very well!
June 4, 2018 – Day 217 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Bikes – I stopped to photograph this bike in downtown Madisonville, Ky when this rider pulls up and occupied the scene as well. I think it was a nice surprise, especially as he’s looking at the subject of my picture!
June 3, 2018 – Day 216 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Lucky Shot – Don’t ask my how I got this shot as I dont think I could reproduce it if I wanted to. I was photographing my niece Jeanne and her granddaughter Journey looking at pictures on her phone and this is the first shot I took. The others came out tack sharp, but I like the soft look of this photo the best! Im very pleased with how it turned out. Remember, sometimes, you just have to be lucky! No special effects were applied to the picture.
June 2, 2018 – Day 215 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Tabatha – Today’s photograph is of my cat Tabatha, taken using the portrait mode on the iPhone. When photographing the loved ones in your life, don’t forget to include your pets! They can make for great photos as well!
June 1, 2018 – Day 214 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Back Road Barns – I love traveling the back roads of Kentucky, or any state actually! Getting off the interstate system will take you though interesting places and towns that are treasure troves of pictures just waiting to be captured! Today I was making my way from Guthrie, Ky to Trenton, Ky, trying to get to a spot before a train, when I passed this scene on a road I’d not been along before. Well, needless to say, I missed the train picture!! I have an easy goal these days and thats to travel at least one new road a month. Its been going great and I always find a picture when I do it! Travel the roads less traveled… you won’t regret it!
May 31, 2018 – Day 213 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Stormy Fisherman – The skies were getting pretty dark and I knew there was a storm coming when I turned around and went back to shoot this picture in Mortons Gap, Ky. Follow your gut instinct when out shooting pictures, it’s usually right!
May 30, 2018 – Day 212 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Memorial Day – It was June 1968 when Memorial Day was moved from my birthday to the last Monday in May. While it works out great for 3-day weekends for everyone, I still consider my birthday to be the “true” Memorial Day! So, today’s image is from the Veteran’s Cemetery at Hopkinsville, Ky, to remind us of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
May 29, 2018 – Day 211 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – The Hallway ‘ After a trip the restroom Damion and I were making our way back to the restaurant, where we were having lunch with some of our local photography club folks, when he took off running down this long hallway and as I expected him to, so I was prepared for this shot! I have always loved the leading lines here and with him running down it, I love it even more!

LOL Sometimes the hands make for a nicer picture and fun memories! If you look real close you can see her peeking through her fingers at me! About a minute later everything was back to normal and she had the phone taking pictures, but not of me!!

I still can recall to this day taking pictures of Jeanne at the same age as Journey! Where did time go???
May 12, 2018 – Day 194 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B&W Photo Challenge – First Ballet Recital – This evening was another milestone for Elaina as she had her first on stage performance at our local fine arts center, along with others from her ballet school! Here she peeks through the opening between one of her tutus for the night’s performance and her mom. When photographing kids, don’t always go for the normal shot! Look for something different to help add impact!
