July 5, 2018 – Day 248 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Tie Plates – While out taking pictures of trains today I spotted this pile of railroad tie plates at Depaw, Indiana and liked the design! Don’t pass up the simple things as they can make for interesting pictures! Just keep your eyes and mind open to what’s around you!
July 4, 2018 – Day 247 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Elaina’s Birthday – Elaina, her brother Damon, cousin Jordan and her mom Ashley all show excitement as they watch fireworks at the end of Elaina’s 5th birthday celebration at her grandma and grandpa’s house. Picture is a bit noisy, but still turned out well for the moment! The picture is lit from the fireworks, not flash.
July 3, 2018 – Day 246 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – A new nose – After finishing her chocolate milk yesterday at lunch Elaina decided that the bottle would become her new nose! Of course, I had to get a photo!! Shes so silly sometimes!

June 30, 2018 – Day 243 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Tanks and wheels – When out railfanning today I caught this shot of black tank cars with white rimmed wheels that I thought made for a nice black and white photograph for my series.
June 29, 2018 – Day 242 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Prides and Packs – It’s interesting that kids are kind of like dogs and cats to some degree. These two seem to follow us adults around from room to room! If they’re in the living room and I move to the porch or office, it’s not long before they’re there as well! Love it!!
June 28, 2018 – Day 240 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Close-up – With a lot of patience and a bit of practice you can get some decent close-ups with your iPhone! I’ve found by using the burst mode and tapping the screen to adjust your focus can allow you to get in close! This shot was taken about 3-4 inches away from the insect on the leaf. Using a tripod can help, but I’ve found it’s a bit more difficult as they move around. Also, start a bit further out and move in slowly, taking pictures as you do so. That way it won’t get as skittish and leave! The 2x optical zoom on the newer cameras helps as well.
June 27, 2018 – Day 239 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Wildfire Marsh – Damion makes a face as he talks to me about the Wildfire Marsh in his Dragon Game that has what he calls “The Haunted House!” Try to catch the emotion of your subjects when shooting! It’ll make your photographs much more interesting!
June 26, 2018 – Day 238 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Dragons! – My sister added a dragon game to Damion and Elaina’s Tablets and of course she has to play it as well to learn how to help the kids play it! Anyone that knows my sister knows that she has a dragon obsession! LOL However, the kids are loving playing the game and so is she! They all share a learning moment here as she shows them some new things about the game. Don’t get me wrong, I think the kids probably show her as much as she shows them! Be sure to photograph your family doing things they love together!
June 25, 2018 – Day 237 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Our Wet head! – Damion decided today that he wanted a slightly different hair style and so he did a little creative work with some water from the bathroom sink today! When he came to show me his “new look” I grabbed this photograph that I’m totally in love with!! Sometimes pictures come to you!!
June 23, 2018 – Day 235 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Round Barn – My sister and I made a trip to Paris, Kentucky to attend the Cane Ridge Celebration at the birthplace of our church (Disciples of Christ) and as we were heading home I spotted this scene with a round barn and fell in love with it! One of things I love about traveling the back road as you never know what picture waits to be captured around the next bend!

June 21, 2018 – Day 233 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Smile and a helping hand – Meet Kenny Hayes! An outgoing, helpful and nice gentleman that works two days a week at the convenience center at Earlington, Ky. He told me that he retired some years back from the IGA grocery market he used to own there and after awhile his wife “made” him get a part time job to get him out of the house! LOL, of course he told me this with a smile and laugh on his face! Anyway, he made for a great subject today! When youre out and about, engage people and ask them to take their picture! Most will say yes and be flattered that you asked!
June 20, 2018 – Day 232 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Designs in Nature – For today’s picture I wandered no further than in front of my porch! Sometimes interesting pictures and designs are right in front of you, such as with this hydrangea bush. Keep your eyes open to things around you!
June 19, 2018 – Day 231 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Strategy Session – Damion and Elaina confer on doing battle during a Dragon game they both enjoy playing together on their tablets. Get down to the kid’s levels when taking their picture when you can. It will give your pictures a bit more impact!

June 16, 2018 – Day 228 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Hot Summer Day – Today my sister and I went to the W.C. Handy Blues and BBQ Festival in Henderson, Ky and although I shot a lot of pictures of the performers but, I still keep coming back to this photograph I shot of kids enjoying the spray park along the Ohio River. The music was great, but this picture wins the prize for my daily challenge.
June 15, 2018 – Day 227 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Cat Ears – Today Elaina’s mamaw bought her a set of cat ears while they were at the store and when I asked her if I could take a picture of her new ears she said yes, with Tabatha! Sometimes when you want a photo of a little one in your life, it’s easier to ask them to take a picture of something they’re doing, wearing or have! Especially when they’re not in the mood for having their picture taken, you must be tricky! LOL
June 14, 2018 – Day 226 – iPhone 7 Plus Daily B/W Photo Challenge – Princess – I had to work to get this photograph today! My niece Elaina was in a goof off crazy mood and wanted to do the silly face thing, or not look at the camera at all. I wanted a more serious portrait however and with persistence I was able to capture this moment. If you know what you want in your mind’s eye, be persistent and you’ll capture it!
