CSX M500 passes the old Louisville and Nashville Railroad Depot in downtown Madisonville, Ky as it heads north on the CSX Henderson Subdivision on June 14th, 2021.
This depot was originally dedicated in 1929 and last saw passenger service about 1968 when L&N built an office at Atkinson Yard in Madisonville and the passenger train service was moved to that location. Currently the station is owned by the city of Madisonville and houses one of the hubs of the Kentucky Innovation Stations, which helps courageous entrepreneurs, creative business founders, high-growth startups, and savvy investors star in their own success stories.

CSXT 911, Honoring our First Responders locomotive, leads empty coal train E305 as they pass through the curve at Breton, Kentucky on their way north on June 5th, 2025, on the CSX Henderson Subdivision.
There used to be a siding at this location, but it was decommissioned a few months ago as it was too short to be of use these days. As you can tell, crews have started pulling up the rail.
CSXT 911 is painted in vibrant red with white and gold striped accents along with the logo of program partners First Responders Children’s Foundation and Operation Gratitude. It also features generic police, fire and emergency medical services logos.

CSX M512 heads north as it meets southbound M503 with the Operation Lifesaver Engine 4568 leading, at the south end of Slaughters, Kentucky on April 30th, 2025, on the CSX Henderson Subdivision.
M512 was hauling three wrecked locomotives, CSXT 3469, 3299 and 245, on flats behind the head end power. From what I understand the units were from the signal suspension head on wreck in Folkston, GA last year. CSXT 245 was on the rock train and the other two were on I032.

On May 5th, 2025, CSXT 6419 heads up a train as they work on building a train at Patio Yard in Winchester, Ky on CSX’s CC Subdivision (Cincinnati-Corbin), a scene that is repeated many times a day across the world as railroads move goods and commodities.

This is a still frame grab I did from a video I shot of the train making its way north and I must say I’m really pleased with the results of doing this frame grab. Not that I’ll be doing this as a norm, but there’s times when I want to shoot both, and this gives me a way to accomplish this by just shooting 4k video.

CSXT 4568, 50th Anniversary Operation Lifesaver locomotive, pulls south from the siding at the south end of Slaughters, Ky on April 30th, 2025, on the CSX Henderson Subdivision.
According to a CSX press release: CSX unveiled a new Operation Lifesaver rail safety commemorative locomotive in September of 2022, and it was painted at the railroads locomotive shop in Huntington, West Virginia. The CSXT 4568 engine will travel the company’s rail network as a visual reminder for the public to be safe at highway-rail grade crossings and near railroad tracks.
