March 27, 2015 – CSX engine 367 leads intermodal Q025 southbound as it splits the signals at the north end of the Slaughters, Ky siding on the Henderson Subdivision.
As usual, I attended the annual Spring Photography Weekend at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, in Dawson Springs, Ky. These are the images I submitted in the Masters Division for the contest. Lots of great pictures taken by the 54 participants!
The categories were: Culture, Wildflowers/Fungi, Wildlife and Scenic Beauty. There were also three bonus categories which were Crofton, Ky, Funny and “Photoshopped.”
April 14, 2015 – CSX coal train E497 heads down the Texas Line at Henderson, Ky to the Henderson Subdivision where it’ll continue it’s movement north across the Ohio River and into Evansville, Indiana.
April 14, 2015 – CSX Q025 passes a piece of MOW equipment in a siding as it heads south approaching the north end of Sebree, Ky heading south on the Henderson Subdivision.
April 14, 2015 – CSX autorack train L204, with engine 5308 in the lead, rounds the curve on the Texas Line at Henderson, Ky as it heads onto the Henderson Subdivision to continue it’s move north across the Ohio River to Evansville, In.
April 15, 2015 – Paducah & Louisville Railway Tie Train at Richland, Ky – A Paducah & Louisville RR work train drops ties along the right-of-way between MP 155 and 155.6 at Richland, Ky as it makes it’s way south towards Paducah, Kentucky.
April 14, 2015 – CSX Q647 heads south on the Henderson Subdivision after getting a green signal at the south end of the siding at Rankin, Ky, with engines 224, 7543 and 5333 as power.
April 15, 2015 – A Paducah and Louisville Maintenance of Way train makes it’s way through the Richland, Ky area dropping ties along the right-of-way, heading south with PAL 3804 in the lead and 3806 trailing.
April 14, 2015 – CSX Q029 passes the signals at the north end of the Robards, Ky siding as it heads south on the Henderson Subdivision with engine 3013 in the lead.
April 14, 2015 – CSX empty coal train E497 heads off CSX’s Texas Line onto the Henderson Subdivision taking its train north at Henderson, Ky. I understand coal drags don’t usually take the Texas Line, but it was right behind autorack train L204.
April 8, 2015 – LoRam Ditching machine DC-2 heads south just past the south end of Romney siding as it heads south at Mannington, Ky for its next ditching assignment on of CSX’s Henderson Subdivision.
April 6, 2015 – A loaded coal train, with CSX engine 971 in the lead, enters the north end of Kelly siding as it makes its way south on the Henderson Subdivision at Kelly, Ky.
April 10, 2015 – While out railfanning today in Evansville, Indiana I stumbled across this minor derailment of two cars on the Pigeon Creek bridge that runs along West Ohio Street. They were on a short local being pulled by CSX Switcher 1229 with Chessie System Caboose #904138 trailing.
April 9, 2015 – CSX V188 creeps up the grade at Kelly, Ky with a empty grain train, where it pulled in behind a coal train, on the Henderson Subdivision. Both trains went into the siding to allow intermodal Q025 to pass with it’s hot cargo.
March 7, 2015 – CSX G104 approaches Rankin, Ky with engine 4769 in the lead as it heads north on the Henderson Subdivision.
April 9, 2015 – A empty CSX coal train, with engine 4575 in the lead, passes milepost 249 approaching the overpass at Cavanaugh Lane in Kelly, Ky as it heads north on the Henderson Subdivision.
April 6, 2015 – CSX Q514, being led by UP 7511, approaches the Crofton Cut as it heads north on the Henderson Subdivision, just north of Crofton, Ky.
April 10, 2015 – A CSX Henderson Subdivision Maintenance of Way crew works on the switch at the south end of Henderson, under the recently powered up new cantilever signal bridge, at Henderson, Ky as the last light of day fades from the sky. CSX has been working for sometime now replacing and upgrading signals along the subdivision and this is among the first to be activated.
April 9, 2015 – Did a bit of sight surveying today along part of the RJ Corman line that runs through Russellville, Ky where I captured this scene of the Adairville Feed Mill there and a string of cars along the RJ Corman Railroad line running next to it.
April 9, 2015 – Storm clouds loom over a CSX ballast train, with HLCX lease units, 6503 and 8148, as it sits at the south end of the new Casky Inspection Yard being built at Hopkinsville, Ky on the Henderson Subdivision.
