June 26, 2020 – The crew of CSX W986 gives a wave to the crew of southbound Q501-25 as they prepare to do a roll-by inspection during a meet at the north end of the siding at Rankin, Kentucky on the Henderson Subdivision. W986 was carrying a load of windmill generators and other parts bound for Decatur, Illinois.

June 23, 2020 – CSXT 4558 (SD70MAC) leads CSX W990-17 through Mortons Gap, Kentucky with a load of windmill motors as it heads north on the Henderson Subdivision.

June 1, 2020 – Dusk settles across western Kentucky as CSX Q647 passes the signals at the south end of the siding at Kelly, KY as it rumbles south on the Henderson Subdivision at the old wooden overpass where preparations are underway its replacement with a new concrete bridge.

June 17. 2020 – CSX Jewelers work to replace the diamond at Trident, where the Henderson Subdivision, Morganfield Branch and the MH&E branch cross at Madisonville, Kentucky. Much of the two latter branches were shut down within the last year and are now used for storage, but locals and coal trains still use them to some degree. The Henderson subdivision however still sees on average of 20-25 trains a day so this diamond still sees a lot of traffic!

June 13, 2020 – CSX Intermodal Q026-12 starts its descent down the viaduct at Rahm, Indiana, with two of CSX’s newer ST70AH Tier 4 locomotives, 8905 and 8900 leading, as they head north over the Ohio River Bridge on the Henderson Subdivision toward Evansville, Indiana.

June 3, 2020 – Kasgro (KRL) Caboose 073 brings up the rear of CSX W993-31, with CSXT 5263 leading, as it approaches East Diamond on the cut off at Madisonville, Kentucky as it heads north on the Henderson Subdivision.
The train was running with a load for General Electric on a Kasgro 20 Axel Depressed Deck Car KRL 204040 that has a load limit of 943,900lbs.
Kasgro Rail Corporation builds, maintains, and manages a fleet of nearly 500 specialty railcars which are used for transporting oversized and heavy “dimensional” loads anywhere in the United States Railroad system.

June 6, 2020 – LORAM Railgrinder 403 at Mannington, Kentucky, as it south to it’s next grinding spot on the Henderson Subdivision, as the last light of the day begins to fade from the sky.

June 6, 2020 – A dazzeling lightshow breaks darkness of the night as the roar of LORAM Railgrinder 403 screaches it’s way through a curve, just south of Crofton, Kentucky, as it grinds it’s way south on the Henderson Subdivision on a hot and muggy spring night.

May 30, 2020 – CSX was nice and sent several interesting trains my way for my 70th birthday! This one of CSX J732 meeting CSX Q028 at the north end of Pembroke at Hopkinsville, Ky. J732 was pulling into the yard at Casky with Paducah and Louisville Railway units 3803, 3804 and 3808 in tow as the trailing units.
I’ve not been able to find out where they’re headed, other than they should go out sometime tonight on J733 south to Nashville, TN on the Henderson Subdivision. Either way, it made for one of several nice shots for my birthday!

May 11, 2020 – With five engines on the head-end it looks like it would be leading a massive train, but it was only around 4000 ft with, only about 2800 tons so the, 4 units behind CSXT 3059 were isolated for fuel conservation. Still, it made for a great photograph as it passed through the S curve at Nortonville, Ky on its way south along the Henderson Subdivision on this beautiful Spring day.

May 11, 2020 – I’m really pleased with this shot of a three-way meet of CSXT 713 leading a northbound Q503 as it passes G155 and Q502 in the siding at Kelly, Kentucky on the Henderson Subdivision. Three Way meets can really be hard to capture, but for this one, the right location, direction and weather combined, provided all the right elements!!

August 8, 2009 – During one of my many trips over the years to Summer Rail I caught CSXT 154 & 395 as it led a maintenance of way train, with two switches in gondolas, as it crossed over the Ohio River at Covington, Kentucky as it headed south off the C&O Railroad bridge from Cincinnati, Ohio.
