February 23, 2019 – CSX grain train G235-22 heads toward the north end of Slaughters, through the falling rain, as it heads south on the Henderson Subdivision at Slaughters, Kentucky. I love the ability my 150-600 mm Sigma lens gives me to pull subjects in close, even though they are far away. This is at 400mm from the crossing, which gave me plenty of time to get my shot and move safely out of the way.
Train photos don’t always have to be 3/4 view and close-up! Wide and long shots can be just as effective. I think the key here is trying to get something different when you’re out shooting. That’s why when I’m out railfanning, I’m ready to move somewhere else after I’ve got a train or two at the same spot. Variety makes for more interesting photos! – #jimstrainphotos#kentuckyrailroads#trains#nikond800#railroad#railroads#train#railways#railway#csx#csxrailroad
