January 8, 2018 – Day 70 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Monday Pickup – Monday is my day to pick up my nephew Damion from school and take him to his karate and choir practices. When photographing kids or any family members for that matter, always remember to include the things that they do and love in their lives! Your iPhone allows you to do just that!
January 7, 2018 – Day 69 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Sunday Seekers – Grandma Jeanne heads into church with Elaina and Damion as I and mamaw bring up the rear this morning. A good picture doesn’t always have to show the faces of your subjects!!! Pay attention to body language and other things that can help add impact to a going away picture when you’re shooting one!
January 6, 2018 – Day 68 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Night Mamaw – Damion gives his mamaw a hug before heading off to bed for the night. Nighttime routines can provide for some really nice moments for photographing the little ones in your family. It’s one of the things I like about the iPhone, it’s handy and right there with me! Keep yours close and be ready for those moments in your own family!!
January 5, 2018 – Day 67 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Scenes Revisited – I have a love affair with this tree, along with many, many other photographers that live in the Madisonville, Ky area. I think over the years its been photographed by myself more times than I can count. It’s been in the newspaper many times (my previous life) in all kinds of different conditions and seasons as well. My point? When you find a scene or constant subject that you like to photograph, don’t hesitate to revisit the scene at different times and under different conditions to capture a different photograph of it. By doing so, it forces you to work the scene to come up with a different photograph that what you’ve shot before. Today it was the clouds for me! One of the benefits of doing this is that you’ll end up with a nice series of photographs that perhaps would lend themselves to a yearly calendar that would make a wonderful personal project for a Christmas gift next year!
January 5, 2018 – CSX Q513-05 heads through the work limits at the south end of the current siding at Nortonville, Ky, with UP 7674 leading. Construction continues with the laying of new track and switches connecting the Romney and Nortonville sidings together to form a two track main between the two points.
January 5, 2018 – CSX Q026-05 cuts it’s way though 8 degree winter weather as it heads north through the construction of a new two track main at Nortonville, Ky on the Henderson Subdivision. Construction to join the Romney and Nortonville sidings into a two track main began early in the summer and is close to completion. The same was done with the Sebree and Robards, Ky sidings and that two track main has been operational for about a month now.
January 4, 2018 – Day 66 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Elaina and Tabatha – Elaina no more than took her coat off this morning, when she was on the floor with Tabatha! Sometimes crooked and slightly blurry photos are a lot better than not having any picture at all! Actually, in this case I feel both factors help to strengthen this photograph.
December 31, 2017 – Day 62 – iPhone Daily B&W Photo Challenge – Three Generations – From right, my sister, her great grand daughter and my sister’s daughter. This brings to mind a point. I’m into genealogy and I just want to mention that when you shoot photos that need to stand the sands of time, you need to have prints made! I’m afraid the time will come when, so much is digital and easy to lose over the years, that pictures will be lost to researchers!
