November 22, 2016 – Louisville & Indiana Railroad’s 2006 at Louisville, Ky

November 22, 2016 – Louisville & Indiana Railroad’s 2006 sits on the Main Street overpass in downtown Louisville, Ky as it handles a work train as crews work on track improvements. The Louisville & Indiana Railroad was formed in March 1994 to acquire 106 miles of rail line between Indianapolis and Louisville. LIRC connects with CSX, INRD, NS and PAL railroads. The line serves numerous major companies and an efficient inland port facility. Since formation, L&I has added a number of new industries to its lines.

November 16, 2016 – Huron and Eastern Railway 2026 (GP38-3)

November 16, 2016 – Huron and Eastern Railway 2026 (GP38-3) brings up the rear of the power lashup on CSX L688 as it passes the south end of the siding at Slaughters, Ky with a 11,500ft train, as it heads north on the Henderson Subdivision. Huron and Eastern Railway is a short line railroad operating 384 miles of track in The Thumb and Flint/Tri-Cities area of the lower peninsula of Michigan.

October 18, 2016 – The nose of Norfolk and Western Railway steam locomotive 611 makes for a nice portrait as it sits idle at Spencer, North Carolina. As luck would have it on my recent road trip there I arrived after their last weekend of running and couldn’t stick around for their return trip home. There’ll be other times!

October 27, 2016 – CSX Rail Train, W021-26 drops rail at the south end of Romney siding

October 27, 2016 – CSX Rail Train, W021-26 drops rail at the south end of Romney siding as it works its way north towards Nortonville, Ky on the Henderson Subdivision. CSX is preparing to double track from the crossing on the south end of Romney Siding to the north end of Nortonville siding. They will also double track from the south end of Sebree, Ky to the north end of Robards, Ky. Tracks at both locations will become main 1 and 2. I was told yesterday that construction should be getting underway in the next few months.

October 8, 2016 – The Fireman and Engineer on Strasburg Railroad’s engine 475, watch the tracks behind as they back around their passenger train in the station at Strasburg as they prepare for another run to Paradise, Pennsylvania. Steam Locomotive 475 is a former Norfolk & Western Railway M class 4-8-0 steam locomotive. It was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1906 as part of the N&W’s first order of class M numbered 450–499. It is the only known 4-8-0 operating in North America.
