10.30.13 Fall-Lone Tree in Hopkinsville

This month’s photographic challenge topic is “Fall Photography.” I’ve had a tough time choosing my picture for today as I got several that I really like, but this one of a lone tree with most of it’s fall leaves gone and the afternoon sky in Hopkinsville, Ky won out as my favorite.

This is a image was shot with my D800 on RAW. Exposure info: 1/2500sec f/5.6 at ISO 100 underexposed by two stops, with a Sigma 24-70 lens at 62mm. By underexposing by two stops from what the camera meter gave me I basically exposed for the highlights in the sky so I could keep the detail.

10.28.13 Fall-Morning Fog WalkersThis month’s photographic challenge topic is “Fall Photography.” This mornings fog help add a bit of a mysterious look to my fall picture of the day I took during my morning exercise at the city park. I love the old majestic oak photo and have photographed it in the past. I don’t think we’ll get much color out of it before the challenge theme changes next month, but I think this picture still works.

This is a image was shot with my D800 on RAW. Exposure info: 1/125sec f/10 at ISO 1400 with a Sigma 24-70 lens at 29mm.

10.28.13 Fall-Geese and treeThis month’s photographic challenge topic is “Fall Photography.” I’ve been wanting to get a photo of migrating geese for this month’s challenge and this morning I found this flock right under a nice fall tree. I used a bushy tree as a blind to get in close and once I was there I moved out slowly watching my frame until they took flight.

This is a image was shot with my D800 on RAW. Exposure info: 1/640sec f/4.5 at ISO 1250 with a Nikon 70-300 at 95mm.
