The nose of CSXT 3154 peeks over the rise as CSX I025 passes through the Hospital Drive crossing, approaching the Main Street overpass at Madisonville, Ky, on March 24th, 2023, on the Henderson Subdivision. This image was made as the train was about one half mile away from where I was standing, with a 440mm lens. The compression from the lens makes the train look much closer than what it was.

CSX I025 rolls through the wetlands area on the Henderson Subdivision as they make their way south approaching the city limits of Earlington, Kentucky on February 15th, 2023. The autoracks behind the power are loaded with brand new Tesla’s bound for Jacksonville, Florida. I015 runs between Bedford Park, IL and Moncrief Yard at Jacksonville, FL.

CSXT 991 leads hot intermodal I025 as it passes under the US 41 overpass at Barnsley, Kentucky as it heads south on the Henderson Subdivision on February 13th, 2023. The first string of cars behind the power are autoracks loaded with Tesla Automobiles bound for Florida. CSXT 3304 leads I028 (Duval Yard – Jacksonville, FL, to Bedford Park, IL) northbound at the location known as Poorhouse on the Henderson Subdivision at Madisonville, Kentucky, on January 24th, 2023, as they make their way past a small farming operation on a beautiful winter day. This location is called Poorhouse as it was named by the Louisville and Nashville Railroad and used to be close to the Hopkins County Poorhouse that operated in the early 1900s. It has retained its name since then.

CSXT 993 leads hot intermodal I028 over the Ohio River bridge from Henderson, Kentucky as it heads north on the CSX Henderson Subdivision at Rahm, Indiana on January 4th, 2023. Here it heads down the long viaduct over the flood plain into Evansville, IN as it makes its run from Duval Yard at Jacksonville, FL to Bedford Park, IL (Chicago).
The CSX Henderson Subdivision is part of the Nashville Division, and it runs between Nashville, Tennessee, and Evansville Indiana for a length of about 145.3 miles of mainline track. On average it sees around 20-30 trains a day, with four of them being hot intermodals.

CSX hot intermodal I025 climbs the viaduct out of Evansville, Indiana on the Henderson Subdivision on a beautiful summer morning as it heads south on July 14th, 2022. The viaduct rises up over the Ohio River flood plane out of Evansville where the trackage crosses over the river into Kentucky at Henderson. During a heavy rainy season, the river can swell to where all the farm fields visible here often get covered by floodwaters.

CSX loaded military train S850 sits in the siding at the north end of Rankin, Kentucky as they meet a southbound I025 on the Henderson Subdivision on August 4th, 2022. This intermodal has been running with these autoracks loaded with Teslas on their way south. Today’s train had 25 autoracks. The cars range in price from $46,000 – $120,000, depending on the model.
Military Humvees cost around $70,000 each. Upgraded humvee variants, called armored or up-armored Humvees, carry higher price tags that range from $160,000 to $220000. A lot of money being moved here, not even including the intermodal shipments!

CSX I028 makes its way down the Viaduct after crossing the Ohio River docked at Henderson, Kentucky, after passing the American Duchess paddle wheeler at Henderson, as it heads north on the Henderson Subdivision at Rahm, Indiana on July 14th, 2022.

May 11th, 2022 – CSXT 1776, CSX’s Spirit of our Armed Forces unit, leads I026 as it heads north at Mortons Gap, Kentucky on the Henderson Subdivision.

CSXT 3343 leads I028 crosses the bridge over the Ohio River at Henderson, Kentucky as it makes its way north on the Henderson Subdivision on a beautiful spring day. It, along with about 7 other trains have been waiting on both sides of the river for a work curfew to expire that ran the length of the bridge and viaduct that runs between Henderson, Ky and Evansville, IN. Track crews have been working through the area all week, causing trains to back up on April 19th, 2022.
